I fell in love
I didn´t plan this to happen. Yes, I was hoping to find that feeling you fall for someone crazymadlydeeply. But not for him. Because he lives in United States and I live in Finland. Two different worlds, two different continents, two different lives. But I fell in love. (and btw so did he)I tried fighting against the feeling for some time until I realized I´m crazy if I let him slip from my hands. So here we are, having a long-distance-relationship and it does take a lot. But it gives a lot too, sure does (more about that later).
This thing has been going on for a year now. (one year and three months and 27 days to be exact - not that we are counting..) During this time we have met four times (11 weeks all together) and had thousands of Skype calls. Sometimes it´s not easy to find time to talk because of the time difference, but we have created our own daily routines. When he wakes up it´s noon for me - he texts me good morning. When I go to sleep, he is usually still working - I text him good night (and I usually end up calling goodnite, just to hear his voice before falling asleep). This is what we do every day. And when we have a day off, we over use Skype. My friends already know I´m not going anywhere or doing anything on Sundays, that´s our time. I miss him all the time. All the time.
My love for him keeps growing stronger every day. We are two grown-ups - this is not just a fling for us. We are serious about this and I mean very serious. Yes, we both have been hurt, our hearts have been crushed and we have been disappointed in love. I myself had lost my hope to find the kind of love that can give you butterflies, makes you silly, puts a freaky smile on your face and makes you want to be a better person. I thought it´s only possible when you are very young. But it sure did hit me hard at age of 35. Harder than ever. Yay!
So, we are very serious. Scary serious. Why scary? Because one of us has to move for us to be able to be together. And that one is me. There´s many reasons for that, very reasonable ones. It´s time to take it or leave it and I decided to take it. And it means leaving for me. Leaving the life as I´ve known it so far, leaving friends and family who all are very dear to me, leaving work I have been lucky to have and have enjoyed doing. Is it worth all the trouble? Ask me again in 25 years, but I´ve heard Georgia is a Peachy Place To Be - so ATL here I come! Well, not right now, it´s going to take sometime with all the immigration process.. And that process is the main reason I started this blog. The other reason is that I´m deeply in love with someone who is thousands of miles away (4820miles to be exact) and I hope to find other people who are in a long distance relationship to share some thoughts about it.
Amor vincit omnia!
